yep. couldn’t agree more. the future is not all black clouds. it really depends on how good and dedicated one is as a photographer…
descobri o blog do David Alan Harvey no lightstalkers. em pessoa, é ainda mais interessante e amigável. um grande fã dos ‘bairros altos’ desse mundo fora.
road trip:
the digital age is an era where absolutely everyone takes pictures…it is raining pictures….we are inundated with photography….so many images floating through the ether that one could think that still imagery is somehow de-valued….i think the opposite…..any well educated person can write a gramatically correct sentence, yet few can compose a poem that resonates or write a compelling short story or novel…so it stands to reason, that just because “everyone” can take a technically good photograph, the power of authored photography will be more apparent, rather than less…

está tudo certo e é tudo verdade e importante. alguns nesta terra lusitana também acreditam nisto, mas parece-me que tudo chega ao ponto ‘onde falam, falam, falam, mas não os vejo a fazer nada pá!‘
WHAT’S NEXT: INNOVATIONS IN NEWSPAPERS: NEWSROOM CUTS AND THE REAL PROBLEM FOR OUR NEWSPAPERS:
…are we sure that just keeping or increasing the newsroom staff numbders our newspapers will do a better job?Of course that you need journalists, but for what?
To re-package the same news from the same sources?
To attend the same boring press conferences?
To publish today the same news that our readers knew YESTERDAY?
To produce pages and pages of commodity information with no value added?
To edit pages and pages of listings that could go directly to our web site?
To attend long and badly planned news meetings?
To expend hours and hours in front of our computers?
To work with not real feed-back from your editors?
To work with no time to think?
The real challenge in our industry is not how many people do we need, but to know how to change the rules and traditions of a newsroom management system that does not work anymore.

até agora, seetharaman narayanan era o senhor-do-nome-estranho-que-aparecia-no-photoshop. agora passa a ter rosto e uma entrevsita bem interessante para ler. aqui.
desde que uso o photoshop – e já lá vão alguns anos – que sempre tive curiosidade sobre as (super)pessoas que escreveram e desenvolvem um dos mais famosos, mais impressionantes, mais poderosos programas de computador do mundo. será talvez também um dos mais pirateados…. (sic)!
o nome dele aparece entre muitos no splash screen, no início, quando lançamos a aplicação. chama-nos é a atenção por ser estranho e comprido. bem haja ao senhor Seetharaman Narayanan e os seus companheiros na adobe!

alguns alunos de uma cadeira de projecto de três meses na cambridge community television fizeram um documentário sobre o fenómeno emergente do ‘cidadão-jornalista’. chama-se citizen journalism: from pamphlet to blog e pode ser visto aqui.
Cambridge Community Television hosted a three-month class in which members of the community will planned, wrote, shot, edited and distributed a short-form documentary on the subject of Citizen Journalism in a collaborative, citizen-journalism-style environment.
